How does my school, community group or sports club benefit from me buying wine from Big Nose Wines?
As a result of our industry contacts, we have been able to source well-known wine brands and varieties at a trade price that allows us to pass on the full retail margin (less an admin fee to cover website, administration, despatch and freight) to organisations who wish to undertake an easy and simple way of raising much needed funds. Every case of wine purchased through Big Nose Wines results in a substantial donation being made to your selected/preferred school, sports club or community organisation.
Who is behind Big Nose Wines and why develop the concept of raising funds for worthwhile groups and organisations by selling wine on-line?
The people behind Big Nose Wines are John Seton, Greg Barclay, John Williams and Warren Barclay. Over the last few years we have been fortunate to have had an involvement with the wine and hospitality industries. This involvement, and having both sporting interests and children, has given us an efficient way to raise funds for community groups with which we have an association. As a result of our industry contacts, we have been able to source well-known wine brands and varieties at a trade price that allows us to pass on the full retail margin.
Previously this was done on an ad hoc basis. However we have found that as our circle of community organisations increased, the scale of the fundraising activities has forced a more organised approach. We have organised quite a few of these opportunities for different community groups so in order to increase efficiencies, ensure full legal compliance and make our life easier, we have centralized and automated the process - hence the development of the on-line website Big Nose Wines. Now we have an excuse not to man sausage sizzles!
Is this being supported by schools, sports groups and community organizations?
Yes. We are already providing this service to a number of schools and sports groups and we have had nothing but an enthusiastic response from those organizations. These organizations are happy with the process that has been put in place and see this as a fantastic fund raising opportunity for its organizations.
Are the wines purchased through Big Nose Wines as competitive as normal outlets for buying wine?
Yes, although we can’t guarantee they are the cheapest (as we cannot control what prices retailers sell at). Prices for wine purchased through Big Nose Wines will vary as we source from different places, but the prices will always remain competitive. Considering that delivery is made to your door, not only will you get competitive prices, you will also get superior service.
Are my personal details given to Big Nose Wines by my school, sports group or community organization?
No. To promote the fundraising, we provide the organization looking to use Big Nose Wines as a way to raise funds with promotional material which they distribute via email or newsletter to its own database. We do not see this database, so there are no issues regarding privacy or the compromise of personal details. The organisation drives its database contacts to the Big Nose Wines website. Once you as a supporter of a community group have entered the website, you are free to select any of the displayed wines and purchase them, should you so wish. You will need to register so that we have delivery details and can match what organization you wish to benefit from your purchase. Once registered (a simple two minute procedure) you complete the transaction, as with any online purchase, through secure banking software by credit card payment.
Are there any additional costs over and above the cost of the wine?
No. The published price on any wine displayed on the Big Nose Wines website is inclusive of all costs – despatch, delivery, admin, freight and GST.
Can I purchase wine on-line from Big Nose Wines more than once?

The next business day after we receive your on-line order the processing of your order takes place. This means that the payment process via a credit card takes place, an invoice receipt is emailed to you and the order is sent through for despatch. Depending upon when the order is placed (e.g. on a Friday night), we aim to get all deliveries arriving at your door no later than 7 days from your initial order. In most cases we would expect delivery to take place much sooner than 7 days.
What happens if my delivery does not arrive within 7 days?
In the unlikely event that your wine is not delivered within 7 days, get in touch with us immediately by hitting the Contact Us button on the website. We will investigate your order straight away and begin the process of finding out why your wine has not been delivered.
Is there a returns policy?
Yes. Quite simply, the success of this concept is dependant upon you being 100% satisfied with the wine you purchase. (Remember your benefiting organisation want you to enjoy the wine and the convenience and become a repeat customer, thereby providing them with an ongoing revenue stream). If after the first bottle you are not completely satisfied we will reimburse you for the entire case or re-supply you with another case. All we ask is that the remaining 11 bottles are returned to the address provided on the original delivery docket. Once this is received we will provide a full refund, or effect the re-delivery of your wine order.
Can I order less than a case at a time?
No. The minimum order is one case. Because of the special rates we have secured directly from the winery (in order to maximise the returns available to the schools, sports groups or community organisations) they must be ordered by the case.
Can I order a case made up of a selection of varieties (e.g. 6 whites and 6 reds)?
No. The minimum order is for a case of one varietal, for the same reasons stated above. Because of the special rates we have secured directly from the winery (in order to maximise the returns available to the schools, sports groups or community organisations) one varietal per case must be ordered. If you wish to purchase more than one variety on offer, additional cases would need to be purchased.
Is the wine of a good quality?
The wine offered through the Big Nose Wines website is all of a quality we would drink ourselves. We also understand though, that you are the ultimate judge of what you like and don’t like. As stated in our returns policy, if after your first bottle you are not completely satisfied then simply return the remainder of the case for a full refund.
